Most clients book their sessions about 3 months in advance, although I do sometimes have last minute openings so feel free to inquire. Typically clients reserve a “spot” during a specific month, and then we set a date when the time is closer. Because I only book 1-2 sessions per week, I have lots of scheduling flexibility over the course of a month, and also in case of bad weather.
After sending a deposit to reserve your session, I’ll be available to collaborate with you to choose the best location for your session, as well as consult on your outfit choices if you wish!
Fun…and some crazy, if kids under 5 are involved. I focus on capturing a mix of 1 – your family casually and naturally posed for the camera, 2 – candid laughs, snuggles and kisses, and 3 – little details you’ll want to remember. Remember that children rarely act picture perfect for an entire photo session and that is OK!, but before your session I will send you a number of tips and tricks to stack the deck in our favor. 😉
Your images will be individually hand edited, including full skin retouching in Photoshop for a natural, beautiful look. Blemishes, sun spots and moles sometimes appear much more prominent in a photograph than they even do when we look in the mirror. In person, we rarely notice those things about each other, and so when I edit your photos, I want to ensure your family looks as beautiful/handsome/adorable as you do in real life. I typically spend 6-8 hours in editing to create your final gallery of images, each of which I aim to be a piece of art.
Of course! Additional images above the number included in your package are available for purchase individually if you are interested, or we can customize a package with a larger number of images at the time of booking. The number of images included in your package is largely based on feedback from clients who have told me that they prefer quality of images over quantity of images, within an affordable session fee package. In order to keep session fees affordable, while also delivering individually edited images, I focus on delivering a medium-sized gallery of the best variety of images from your session with beautiful edits.
Images are presented in an online gallery where you can view, share and download high and low-res versions of the files, as well as order prints. While a print release is included in all packages and you are free to print wherever you choose, ordering prints through my professional print lab of choice ensures they will look as intended and also helps me to keep your session prices affordable! Because I am a partner photographer with Minted, your images will also be uploaded directly to their site for easy ordering of newborn announcements and holiday cards, if applicable.
Prior to your due date (and again as a reminder after you give birth) I’ll send you all the details on what to expect, as well as feeding and sleeping tips for the morning of the session. For an in-home lifestyle session, I’ll also give you tips on how to prepare your home in order to get the most out of our time together.
Yes! I have an always growing collection of wraps, backdrops, pants, hats, headbands, baskets and buckets. After booking your session, you are welcome to share with me favorite colors and/or nursery colors, as I often commission custom pieces for newborn sessions. My own mama knits most of the hats that I use, in colors specially for your session.
My studio space and home are smoke free and doodle-friendly, and I have all of the vaccine boosters recommended for adults who spend time with newborns.
